Trainer Clive Cox is enjoying a fabulous season, headed by the success of Lethal Force in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, and has two interesting contenders in Dream Tune (8st 13lb, 14/1 with Betfred) and Haafaguinea (8st 9lb, 14/1).

Dream Tune was last seen out at Royal Ascot, when he ran a great race to finish second in the seven-furlong Buckingham Palace Handicap, while the lightly-raced Haafaguinea, a winner of two of his three starts, has not been seen out since winning the Esher Cup Handicap over a mile at Sandown Park on April 26.

The Lambourn handler reported: “Dream Tune is a possible for the Betfred Mile. He is on 95 at the moment so I just need to see where he sits.

“There are a few other things to sort first, but I am very much hoping that he will be heading in the Goodwood direction.

“It was a great effort over seven furlongs at Royal Ascot and I am keen to step him up to a mile after that run.

“The race is also a possible option for Haafaguinea. He just had a little hold-up after Sandown so that’s why there is some uncertainty as to where he will go next. At this stage, I would say Dream Tune is the more likely starter.”

The 2011 winner Boom And Bust (16/1), trained by Marcus Tregoning, and Royal Hunt Cup fifth David Livingston (12/1), in the care of South African trainer Mike de Kock, head the weights for the Betfred Mile with 9st 10lb – with both rated 106.

The Andrew Balding-trained Stirring Ballad, Betfred’s 7/1 favourite and winner of the Tatler Handicap at Glorious Goodwood last year, is set to carry 9st 1lb, while other notable contenders include the lightly-raced runaway Leicester maiden winner Nine Realms (8st 11lb & 10/1), who has been given a handicap mark of 93, and the Richard Hannon-trained Wentworth (8st 10lb & 10/1) who went up 1lb in the ratings for his excellent third at Sandown on Saturday.
