Found Set for Champion Stakes After l’Arc Win

Having won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Chantilly over the weekend, Found now looks set to head to Royal Ascot in just a few weeks time in the hope of adding the famous Champion Stakes to an ever growing list of successes.

The four-year-old filly claimed victory in France, on what was a memorable occasion for champion trainer Aidan O’Brien, who saddled the first three home, with Highland Reel and Order of St George in second and third respectively. Ridden by jockey Ryan Moore, and having been 6/1 in the pre-race odds with bookmakers, Found surged passed the pacesetters in the closing stages, with favourite Postponed only managing a fifth place finish.

With bookmakers Betway offering Found odds of 6/1 for the upcoming Champion Stakes, O’Brien looks likely to once again mount a strong challenge for victory at Ascot. The likes of Minding, US Army Ranger and indeed Highland Reel are all in with a chance of competing at this early stage, with the trio at 4/1, 16/1 and 10/1 respectively with Betway.

Elsewhere, having struggled at Chantilly, trainer Dermot Weld will be looking for a response from dual derby winner Harzand, as he also looks set to enter a number of potential frontrunners for the iconic meeting at Ascot. With Harzand currently being offered outsider odds of 25/1 by Betway, it could well be left to reigning champion Fascinating Rock to once again battle it out at the front.

Having missed out on l’Arc for Jean-Claude Rouget due to the French trainer favouring the Champion Stakes, it comes as little surprise that Almanzor currently leads the betting for Ascot, with Betway offering favourable odds of 13/8 on for the three-year-old who has already claimed the Irish Champion Stakes so far in 2016.

It promises to be an exciting weekend at Ascot, with the Champions Sprint and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes among others providing plenty of opportunities for trainers and punters alike to win big on one of the most exciting meetings of the season. Quiet Reflection currently heads the betting odds with Betway for the Champions Sprint, in what would be the perfect success for trainer Karl Burke to get his name back in the spotlight, with Ribchester currently edging out 2016 2000 Guineas and St James’ Palace Stakes winner Galileo Gold for the Queen Elizabeth II stakes.
