Redstart

All the pre-race attention focussed on Tiggy Wiggy, winner of six of her eight starts as a juvenile including the Cheveley Park Stakes, and she raced on the near side just off the pace as the field came down the centre of the track.

Richard Hughes started to get lower in the saddle around two out on the favourite and the writing was on the wall from there, although she appeared to keep on well enough on her first try at seven furlongs as the Ralph Beckett-trained Redstart pulled out more.

Pat Dobbs kept the 12-1 shot going to hold Jellicle Ball and she prevailed by three-quarters of a length, with Tiggy Wiggy another length and three-quarters away in third.

Tiggy Wiggy

Richard Hannon said of Tiggy Wiggy: "She stayed OK and maybe she needed it a bit more than we thought, and she was a bit quiet at the gate. Rather than be frightened of getting the trip we rode her assuming she would get it.

"We'll sleep on it and see what we think, but she's come back none the worse and she will come on a lot for that. If she goes for the Guineas and she doesn't stay we can always come back for the six-furlong race at (Royal) Ascot.

"I'd have loved her to have won as she is a very good filly, but she has been beaten before and I'm sure she'll be beaten again. This isn't a disaster."

Redstart is 12-1 from 66s with RaceBets for the Qipco 1000 Guineas.

Beckett said: "She didn't work great last week and I said to the owner he might want to think again about running her, but he was keen to run so she came here and it was a good performance.

"It's hard to say how she compares with my other three winners of this race, as they have all won it in different ways. I had her down as a German Guineas filly, but now we'll have to go for the Guineas. She will stay a mile for sure."
