Heaven's Guest
Heaven's Guest came out on top in a thrilling climax to the fiercely-competitive 666bet Bunbury Cup at Newmarket.

The blinkered Ertijaal ensured a true test as he set a strong gallop out in front, but he was a spent force heading towards the final furlong, where Absolutely So and Hoodna came through to dispute the lead, with 12-1 shot Heaven's Guest towards the stands side and Fort Bastion on the far side of the track soon making it four in line as the line loomed.

Heaven's Guest, who also won a valuable handicap at last year's July meeting, poked his head in front where it mattered to take top honours by half a length, with Absolutely So and Hoodna second and third respectively.

Winning jockey Tony Hamilton said: "He had a very good season last season and has just paid for it a little bit this year.

"He got a nice bit of cover there and to be fair he's done it well.

"He appreciates that bit of rain. It's just on the easy side of good and he travelled well and did it well in the end.

"He dug deep and he's a game horse. He likes a fight."

Trainer Richard Fahey said: "He's a hardy pro and a professional racehorse. Seven furlongs and that ground seems to suit him.

"He's a good, hardy sprint handicapper who's nearly won £300,000."

Fahey added: "The cut in the ground seems to help him. He looks after himself when it is not right.

"To be honest, he won two big handicaps last year including a £100,000 race here and he has come down the handicap and come good."

"We tried him in stakes races but he lacks a gear for that and he loves these big handicaps where they go flat out. They are tailor-made for him.

"He is in at Goodwood and he is in the International at Ascot."
