The horse with the most experience in the four-strong line-up - and arguably the best form - showed the benefit as he knuckled down to beat Mustajeer (3/1), who kept on nicely for second.

One-raced Tathqeef stayed on well for third despite showing clear signs of greenness under Paul Hanagan, with Mengli Khan held in fourth having also shaped as though he'd learn plenty from the experience.

Mengli Khan took the field along early on and set a decent tempo in the conditions, one which caused Moore to drop lower in the saddle entering the final three furlongs.

However, his mount quickly responded to move alongside and then take over from the weakening leader, before fending off the late charge of Mustajeer to win by a length and a quarter.

The winning trainer said: "He's a very likeable horse and just switched off nicely there.

"Ryan says he'll get a mile and a quarter. We haven't given it much thought yet as to where he might go next but the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot might be an idea.

"He seems to like this ground and although ours have needed a run generally, we've had him pretty straight."
