The Hugo Palmer-trained Gifted Master made most of the running as he romped to victory at Newmarket.
Pat Smullen had the Kodiac gelding quickly out of the stalls to grab the far rail and take an early lead.
It was pretty straightforward from then on as Gifted Master went clear at the business end to win unchallenged by four and a half lengths from the Aidan O'Brien-trained 11-4 favourite Waterloo Bridge. Zhui Feng was half a length away in third.
Palmer said: "It was a very good performance and we've always thought he was a good horse.
"We thought he was a Coventry horse and he just got beat by Buratino before then. He's a lovely horse to have in the yard.
"If he's OK I'd like to run him again this year, but he picked up an injury after he won at Newcastle which was why he was off the track for so long, so I just hope he's in one piece tomorrow morning.
"If he is then maybe we'll go for the Horris Hill."
