Gravitation the Draw in The Goffs/DBS Park Hill Stakes
04/09/08

William Jarvis has his sights set on the £100,000 Group Two Goffs/DBS Park Hill Stakes for the three-year-old filly Gravitation, who heads to the extended mile and three quarters contest at Doncaster’s Ladbrokes St Leger Festival on Thursday, September 11, following a stirring victory at Glorious Goodwood.

doncaster racecourseThe race will see Gravitation bid to build on her success in the Group Three Moet Hennessy Fillies’ Stakes over the distance on July 31, in which she prevailed by a short-head from Folk Opera in a thrilling finish. The latter could reoppose at Doncaster.

Trained by Jarvis for Lady Howard de Walden, Gravitation has progressed well since winning a mile and a half maiden at Leicester in June.

The Galileo filly went to Royal Ascot later that month, claiming third spot behind Patkai in the Group Three Queen’s Vase over two miles, and preceded her Goodwood victory with a fine second to Donegal in the 13-furlong Listed Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket in July.

Jarvis revealed today: “All being well, Gravitation heads to Doncaster for the Park Hill Stakes.

“I was delighted with her win at Goodwood, she has come out of that race fine and is pleasing me with her progress. She’s a tough filly with plenty of ability who stays the trip well.

“Good ground would be fine for her - she just doesn’t want extremes.”

The Park Hill Stakes, historically referred to as the “Fillies’ St Leger”, is one of the highlights of the four-day Ladbrokes St Leger Festival and was won last year by the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Hi Calypso, who may bid for a repeat win.
