Get Set to Profit from Panic

Pembrokeshire based trainer Peter Bowen has made a regular habit of landing the valuable Totesport.com Summer Plate Handicap Chase at Market Rasen and, among a whole host of horses declared at the five-day stage for the Lincolnshire event this weekend, his charge No Panic stands out as one to seriously consider, writes Elliot Slater.

Bowen has won the ultra competitive two-and-three-quarter mile chase a remarkable four times in the last seven years, and sent out No Panic to run third to heavily backed favourite Nostringsattached in the race 12 months ago.

The seven-year-old Dushyantor gelding looks to have been trained with this race in mind and was given a well deserved 12 week break after running a stormer to finish third in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr in April. Anyone who follows horse tips should remember these performances well.

Returning to the fray at Market Rasen on July 4th, No Panic was surely not 100 per cent tuned up but still managed a successful comeback heading straight for the winners' enclosure when accounting for the fast finishing Chorizo (received 10lbs) in a handicap chase over Saturday's course and distance, always a significant indicator when it comes to racing tips.

Set to run off a mark only 3lbs higher than last year, No Panic's connections will be hoping the recent end of the hot spell doesn't signal a significant easing of the ground as he loves to hear his hooves rattle and would be far less effective if underfoot conditions were on the easy side of good.

Bowen could well saddle a handful of runners for the Market Rasen feature with Valley Ride, Midnight Gold, Mizen Raven, North Island and Quattrocentro also possible starters. However, No Panic looks the one to keep on the right side of and should extend the Welsh trainer's winning sequence to five in eight years.
