Sprint Sensation Overdose Wins Again

Overdose, the Hungarian sprinter who looked set to take the racing world by storm last year until a serious injury placed his career in jeopardy, gained his second win since returning to the fray last month with an imperious display in front of an adoring home crowd at Kincsem Park in Budapest at the weekend, writes Elliot Slater.

The unfashionably bred five-year-old son of Starborough, bought as a yearling for a mere 2000 guineas at the Tattersalls Newmarket Sales in 2006, now boasts a career record of 14 wins from 14 outings and seems back to his best following a devastating 10-length win on testing ground that saw him cross the winning line in a very smart 56.4 seconds, very quick in view of the conditions.

Ridden by former British-based rider Gary Hind, Overdose was never headed and drew further and further clear of his field in the listed contest easing home to confirm that he has progressed considerably since his first race back from injury in mid-July where he did just about enough to land a Bratislava listed contest by just half-a-length.

Trainer Jozef Roszival appeared delighted with his charge's performance and confirmed that the superstar racehorse will go next to Baden Baden in Germany later this month where he will bid to win the Group 2 Goldene Pietsche for the second year running.

Horse Racing tips analysts note how success in that outing would inevitably lead to a clamour for the five-year-old to go to Paris for the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye, one of Europe's top sprint races, an event in which he passed the post in front in the 2008 renewal only for the race to be controversially voided due to one of the stalls opening a fraction late.

The 'Budapest Bullet' as he is known to those who regularly look at irish racing tips, seems back to his best, and Europe and the rest of the racing world will hope that Overdose can finally prove himself an all-time great.
