    Angus McNae

    Captain's Blog - 3rd November 2010

Two more for Hughes yesterday has made all those Hanagan supporters, and indeed backers, sweat a little. The gap in the Jockeys title is just three now and Hughes has plenty of ammunition to fire albeit he will not be able to ride on Friday. The tile race itself has added some much needed spice to the end of the season and I for one am very much enjoying this tight, enthralling duel. The boys will do battle at kempton today a meeting that I will be presenting from the studio with Eddie Freemantle as my expert guest. The Kempton executive have presented us with eight races to get stuck into and the highlight is very much that because it is a Listed contest in which one of my favourite horses of the last few years on the All Weather runs. Dansant is trained by Berard Gutler and I think it is fair to say he is a polytrack specialist. He does boast some decent turf form indeed his CV includes a fourth place in the Glorious Stakes at Goodwood, but it is on the synthetic stuff where he is a this best. He may not win tonight and I am not going to back him simply because he was disappointing at Dundalk last time out but his last visit to Kempton in March of last year brought about Listed success and I would not be surprised to see him go well later today and the hungry Richard Hughes is on board.

As ever please send your emails to studio@racinguk.com and we will read out your mails at some point during the show. We will also be having a chat about the Breeders Cup so if you have any thoughts or selections for Churchill Downs please do get in touch. I am going to purchase my Breeders Cup cards from the Daily Racing Form today. The cards are excellent and contain the all important Beyer figures and I will have be having a look at some of the races here on the Blog over the next three days. I am particularly interested in the Dirt races where the numbers tend to be of greater value than on the Turf where late pace is far more important than anything else. I am really looking forward to getting stuck in to the cards this afternoon and will report back tomorrow.

Today’s Selection is a horse I have been waiting for. His recent runs over eleven and twelve furlongs have promised better to come and now back to his best trip of ten furlongs and having his third run back after a lay off I rate him as a decent bet. he has good form here at kempton is well enough handicapped to get seriously involved. For those of you that like to play in running he is a strong traveller and you should be able to lay your bet off at some point at a price significantly shorter than the 8/1 that is available as type. His fifth course success could well be this afternoon.

Right I am off to the Gym and then the office to get ready for tonight. Enjoy your day and we look forward to hearing from you during the show tonight.
