Tanya's Blog - 7th January 2011

Forgive me, has something happened in Sydney? I’ve been watching my beloved Kiwis, that Tim Southee is a real little start, another half century by the young bowler, the Kiwis are just a joy to watch.

Rain continued through the night and I should think Sandown has taken a real dowsing considering what came down through my office window yesterday and I drove through a deep, freshly formed, ford on the way home at Esher station at 8pm last night. I wouldn’t want to be trying to plough through the ground around the home bend tomorrow, let alone bounding over those Railway fences.

Bangor passed the inspection for frost but now has to compete with the snow so takes a look at ten today and Fontwell will have a meeting, and an 11am look will determine whether it includes chase races. All Nicky Henderson runners have taken a pounding already in the betting markets and most are odds-on now! Not my scene backing odds-on but some of you like a skinny one.

I’ve had a scout across all the cards today and it’s very hard to find a selection, a speculative each-way on A Bridge Too Far maybe which is only a massive guess. Though I think it’s better to go for something at a course that will definitely run You’relikemefrank in Lingfield’s 2.10. Hopefully there’ll be more substantial selections tomorrow when there is more certainty around the meetings.

David Simcock has had three winners from his last five runners

Nicky Henderson has had six winners, four seconds and two thirds from his last 13 runners

Donald McCain has had five winners, four seconds and a third from his last 18 runners

David Pipe has had five winners, four seconds and three thirds from his last 20 runners

Jason Maguire has had five winners, three seconds from his last 17 rides

Kipchak has won five of his nine races at Lingfield
