    Captain's Blog - 2nd February 2011

We started February with a winner in the shape of Shammick boy who scrambled home at Taunton. You only got a reward of 13/8 for your money but given my form of late I will take that and rejoice. This game is all about confidence and hopefully now we can go on a bit of a run now and secure a profit for the month. I will post my profit and loss total at the end of the month as to do so will probably focus me even more. It is always easy to start a list when you have a winner but the key is to persist with writing down the losers as well, that way you will live in the real world rather than a fantasy one which at times can be induced by punting.

If you have found the blog today you will have visited the brand new revamped website. A lot of hard work has gone into making it as user friendly and informative as it is. There are many exciting features that I would urge you to explore. I would be particularly keen that you have a look at the i cards. They are packed full of information and in truth you do not need anything else in terms of form study.

Racing UK will be covering all the action from Kempton Park this afternoon and on into the evening. Rishi Persad will be back in the hot seat and will be delighted to receive your e-mails. Please send them to the usual address, studio@racinguk.com. Your thoughts on any subject are always welcome. I guess many of you will have Cheltenham on your mind at the moment and if you have any selections please let us know but show your working as well please. Good logic behind a loser is always preferable to a loser that was a complete guess.

I will be back in the studio tomorrow to help with the coverage of all the action from Dubai. Richard Hoiles will be joining me and I am looking forward to a tremendous card on what is UAE 1000 Guineas day. Be sure to join us for that tomorrow. I will be having a good look at the card today and will be looking back at a few videos as well because a lot of the horses running have already had an outing at the Carnival. That is for tomorrow, for now though my daughter needs some attention and my wife needs to try and get some breakfast before it becomes lunch or even tea!

Have a good day and enjoy the action from Kempton.
