Tanya's Blog - 10th February 2011
Apologies for the delay in posting today but roads into work were very congested and all for just a drop of rain. The bonus is that it has allowed me to scour the betting and form in the hope of another good day.
George Baker’s Divy has certainly attracted plenty of attention in Huntingdon’s 1.40 backed from a meaty double figure price to around 7-1 now. Had he stood up at Ascot on 30 October he could have made his presence felt and I assume that’s why the money is coming in. Huntingdon’s race isn’t the strongest. Staying at the course there is also money for Squadron in the 2.40 who has run three fair races to date this season but I worry he hasn’t won since October 2008.
BURNT OAK is the first horse of interest, I flagged him up in the blog back on the 12th January when he was backed all prices down and ran a strange sort of race but eased through effortlessly to claim third. The weight of money on him today is enormous in relation to the time of the day and every other race.
Richard Lee’s runners are running extremely well and all eyes will be on Highway Code in Taunton’s 3.30 but I’m only going to keep a watching brief on that race. At 2.30 Brampour has lost favouritism, it’s not hard to see why as on January 15 he looked as weak as a kitten a not as imposing as his rivals. He will come on lumps for that run but he will need to as the money is down for Trop Fort and I wouldn’t discount First In The Queue, it’s an intriguing race.
Other than Burnt Oak my speculative selections today are Taunton 4.00 MIDNIGHT OCEAN, she has been preserved with and this isn’t the strongest contest and at 33-1 worth an each-way interest. Then to sign off at 5.00 BESIDE THE FIRE and MAYBERRY both stand out as there is a small semblance of support for the pair. The fan club for the former can be attributed to the Weekender who did an article on Colin Tizzard. Whereas call it women’s intuition but I feel we could see a better run from this mare who has run some big races in her career.
