Tanya's Blog - 11th February 2011
Nelliedonethat has won three of his four races at Musselburgh to date and under today’s conditions in the 4.10 it is my belief that he can make it four from five He is my only selection of the day having had a good scour through the cards at Musselburgh and Kempton and after such mixed fortunes yesterday. I think Burnt Oak will be a difficult horse to catch right and the two I selected in the last needed radar to find them, so apologies.
I did notice early support for City Ground in Musselburgh’s 3.35 against the favourite Little Hercules. Then at Kempton the money is following the current purple patch of Alan King, with every one of his runners being supported so it’s hard to define genuine chances. I will enjoy watching the 3.45 a tactical affair.
The Ladbrokes Golden Jacket starts tonight at Crayford and my greyhound to follow for the year is Saveourstow Lass, yet the one place I don’t think she will act is round the tight corners of Crayford. In my mind the tracks 714 metres equates to 640m and she is a marathon bitch needing 800m. This will be heaven for Blue Bee who romped home at Hall Green in the Prestige but has a tough first round heat against Lorrys Options. The main thing is that both should qualify at 8.18. In Saveourstow Lass’ heat check out Slick Saxon who seems to be a big price at 11-2.
In summary, for sentiment purposes I will be backing Saveourstow Lass outright at 14-1 but I think her hour will come in the TV Trophy and Blue Bee because early pace is crucial at Crayford with such a short run to the first bend.
POINTERS
Alan King has had three winners and three seconds from his last nine runners
Nicky Henderson has had four winners and two seconds from his last eleven runners
Nicky Henderson has had ten winners from his last 21 runners at Kempton
Trainer George Baker has had three winners and two seconds from his last nine runners
A P McCoy has won three of his last seven hurdle races at Kempton
Barry Geraghty has had eight winners from his last 14 rides at Kempton and if you narrow it down to chasers at the course he is four from his last six!
