It is the Eclipse today and here are the speed figures that matter for the race.

1. Confront 86
2. So You Think 126 (Ascot)
3. Sri Putra 114
4. Workforce 134 (Derby) 125 (Sandown)
5. Snow Fairy 113

The best figure this year just belongs to So You Think who may be able to improve upon it given how keen he was at Ascot in a race that was a tactical mess for Ballydoyle. Workforce ran a comprable figure when he won the Brigadier Gerard but ran a whole lot faster when he won the Derby. Thus we know that there is more to come from Workforce but we do not know that there is more to come from So You Think and for that reason I am with Workforce. My confidence would be increased if there had been more rain about but I am hopeful that there is no sting in the ground and given that they have been watering at Sandown there should be no excuse on account of the ground. Of course So You Think could be a monster and will probably try to gallop them into the ground from the front. Confront will provide pace pressure and we look set to have a strongly run race which will suit Workforce all the more.

I am in the Studio today for what promises to be a busy and informative day. It begins with Mark Your Card at 12.30pm where Dave Nevison will join me. Hopefully we will be speaking to Steven Arnold who rode So You Think in Australia and it will be fascinating to hear his thoughts on the horse. The afternoon will be a busy one with three meetings keeping us busy and then this evening two more meetings will keep the team honest long into the night.

Andy Murray did not disppoint those of us who felt he would cave in when the pressure was on and yesterday he duly folded as Nadal turned up the heat. Once again the hopes of an expectant Nation were raised to fever pitch only to be dashed. All I can say is it will happen again.
