    Tanya's Blog - 16th August 2011

Home sweet home - three cheers for Essex. A few days spent back in a lively county does wonders for the charging of the batteries. That said, the anorak has been firmly in place as I type up plenty of stats for the upcoming week. Frankie Dettori in the Great Voltigeur is a blinder which will be in tomorrow’s offering. It won’t be long before all roads head to York but there is live action from Musselburgh and Kempton on before that.

Deauville - and what went wrong with Goldikova? She ran fine, but Olivier Pesilier’s ride wasn’t one of his best. Although at times we’d be forgiven for thinking she is Pegasus, she hasn’t grown those wings yet. If you haven’t seen it, the race is certainly worth watching in full.

Pesilier had already ridden a four-timer and he may have used up all his luck. Rather than ramble on, just watch. Also congratulations to Tom Segal, what a genius, another big winner for Pricewise in Immortal Verse.

My highlight was Rockinante, Richard Hughes at his finest on a very brave and tenacious youngster. Can’t wait to see Crown Dependency at York during the week.

The Jockeys’ Championship has extra spice now Kieren Fallon is starting to reel in the leading pair of Hanagan and De Sousa; he is worth following on every mount. MOSAICIST is the one that appeals most at Kempton this evening, if you ignore her last run at Pontefract she holds a major chance at 9.20pm.

STONECRABSTOMORROW has a good course record at Brighton with two wins from five starts, his run at Goodwood last week showed another visit to the winners’ enclosure isn’t that far away, let’s hope it is at 5pm at Brighton.

Roll on the NFL, an early selection for the new American Football season is the Philadelphia Eagles. Michael Vick has plenty of receivers this year; the one problem is he may not be willing to throw it to them.
