Tanya's Blog - 24th August 2011 Twelve months ago there was quite a kafuffle outside my office window at Teddington. On peering out I saw a film crew, umpteen extras, clapperboards, buffeting catering - the full works. On investigating, those below were filming a five minute scene for One Day. No, not named after the hope I may eventually tip a winner (I did yesterday!), but the Hollywood blockbuster which is about to be released. No I didn’t see Anne Hathaway at the studios but she was apparently in attendance, so too Jim Sturgess. So with great inquisitiveness I will head to the cinema in due course to see if the Teddington scene reached the screen and didn’t end up on the cutting room floor. I’ve been taking a few days off and yesterday spent most of the day watching the last two weeks’ pre-season highlights from the NFL. The New York Jets and New England Patriots looked spectacular but ignore the Saints performance - their best players haven’t been playing the full match. As for the Eagles they are still my long range selection but all will be revealed in the next 10 days as to final thoughts. Chepstow has never been my luckiest track for picking winners yet KAVACHI does seem value for at least an each-way wager. He has been placed in 15 of his 60 races winning seven of those. He acts on all sorts of going conditions and George Baker is always a good pilot to have on your side. Peter Deal heads the syndicate for Notus De La Tour which my better half is lucky enough to be part of. It is great to see Peter Deal’s colours be carried to success elsewhere though and MINA’S BOY has done wonders this season. He is on a hat-trick which should be completed in Chepstow’s 4.30 today. OPUS MAXIMUS in a seller! Can’t believe it but he is in Wolverhampton’s 7.10 - a banker for me. Finally must put in MR WOLF. He won the 4.20 Catterick race 12 months ago and he is favourite to do so again, a forecast with Royal Blade won’t go amiss either
POINTERS Roger Charlton has had six winners from his last 15 runners Tim Vaughan has had four winners from his last seven runners Marco Botti has had four winners from his last 10 runners David Simcock has had five winners from his last 14 runners Kieren Fallon has had five winners from his last 14 rides Richard Johnson has had nine winners from his last 20 rides AP McCoy has had five winners from his last 13 rides
