Captain's Blog - 10th January 2012 The year started oh so well on the tipping front here on the blog, but I am afraid things have gone the wrong way since then. This loss of form is frustrating and inexplicable, but as I always say you have to keep swinging if you are going to knock the ball out of the park and that is what I intend to do. With some decent racing looming on the horizon I need to find some form, as such sport is so much more enjoyable if you can back a winner or two. Last night I watched Thierry Henry score the winner in the FA cup tie between Arsenal and Leeds. It was dream comenack for Henry. After all, if he could have stage managed his return he would surely have asked to be able to stand unmarked in the penalty area before receiving a pin pin point pass leaving him with the simple task of passing the ball into the net. Henry clearly retains some of his old ability but to acclaim him to be the saviour of Arsenal on the back of what he did last night is to miss the point. Of course I am a little bit sour that Leeds lost, and that may colour my judgement, but in truth I expected them to lose as they have an injury list as long as your arm and are not in the same league, literally, as the Gunners. Whilst we are on a football theme surely whoever takes over the job at QPR in the next few days is merely being handed a poisoned chalice. In the last few years they have had more managers come and go than any other club and some have lasted just as long as five games. Neil Warnock did well to last as long as he did, but I would not bet on the new man lasting beyond the end of this season when they could easily be relegated. I am at home today and am planning to do some theraputic gardening. I am not sure that there is such a thing, but I am in such bad form when it comes to racing that I am loathe to watch any action today, instead some rather aggressive pruning of an apple tree and a couple of overgrown bushes should be just the ticket this afternoon. I hope we can fare somewhat better today on the tipping front, but I would not advise you ro hold your breath! All the best.
