    Tanya's Blog - Friday 8th June 2012

Tolerance is needed as the inclement weather batters the country, racecourses will be blighted by non-runners as the ground changes under difficult circumstances. However it means focusing on those horses, who do relish the conditions and/or take a step back and watch from the sidelines as Royal Ascot fast approaches and there’ll be plenty to get stuck into then.

Today’s markets will be plagued by reassessment and each-way terms will be cut as the defections pour in. Backed horses will be hard to differentiate from those affected by deductions so tread especially carefully, don’t be beguiled by so-called ‘Steamers’.

Euro 2012 kicks off today and the office ‘Panini’ sticker book is filling, plus there are many battles to be embroiled in, within the Fantasy Football league. I hope Spain and Holland get through to the final rounds, meanwhile Nick Lightfoot needs a bold show from Germany seeing as his team has seven of that country’s players!

Back to the racing, and Newmarket reverts to the July course where my two selections are Escape To Glory and Thomas Chippendale. Escape To Glory confirmed the faith of his supporters at Folkestone nine days ago, he has a blinding draw in stall one and William Buick on board.

The form of the Newbury race which Thomas Chippendale finished fifth to Expense Claim has since worked out extremely well. Add to that the fact that Sir Henry Cecil and his jockey Tom Queally have hit a rich vein of form then he is the pick of the 4.30.

    Today's Selections:

    3.55 Newmarket: Escape To Glory

    4.30 Newmarket: Thomas Chippendale
