Captain's Blog - Tuesday 7th August

I have a day off today before returning to the fray tomorrow for a little bit of Sunbury synthetics in the company of Dave Yates. I will be spending the whole day looking after my daughter who now free from ear infections and other ailments is in great form and will, no doubt, run me into the ground by the end of the day. When I spend a day looking after her I normally plan the whole day out, including meals etc. Today I am very much flying by the seat of my pants, but I am sure the whole day will pan out well, particularly as the weather is set to be OK.

It is hard to know where to turn at the moment as far as sport is concerned at the moment. The Olympics have been tremendous as has the second test between England and South Africa and to add some more top-class action to the mix we are only 10 days or so away from the start of the football season.

I like my football, but it really does start a little too early. After all, the Premier League will be up and running before the domestic Twenty-20 cricket finals have taken place. Not to worry, it all makes for good viewing in my book and we still have the Challenge Cup final to come on August 25. What a summer it has been. If only the weather had been better. Oh well you cannot have everything I suppose.

My selection yesterday ran poorly, as for today I am keen on the chances of Waspy in the 2.30pm at Bath. This horse won at the track recently in good style and in this field looks set to repeat the dose. He looks a good deal more progressive than some of his rivals and can account for them this afternoon.

I am having a look back at Glorious Goodwood at the moment in terms of speed figures and will report back in the next few days here on the blog. I suspect there were some decent figures and hopefully my research can unearth one or two. I hope to have these with you by the weekend. For now I hope you have a good day whatever you are doing. Time for me to get to a plan for today's Daddy daycare session!

All the best.
