Captain's Blog - Tuesday 11th September I kid you not, frog juice is the new performance enhancer and you can bet your bottom dollar it will eventually hop across the Atlantic and find itself in use here one day. As the label suggests, Frog juice is an illegal substance extracted from the skin of frogs and it is a natural pain killer and also makes horses hyperactive. Horses in America have already tested positive for it, and this is yet another example of the dopers trying to keep ahead of the testers. It is alleged that as a pain killer it is stronger than morphine and that effect, allied with an overwhelming feeling of well-being would undoubtedly cause horses to improve and be able to run faster. The American authorities are looking into this growing problem and we need to be vigilant because to believe frog juice will never leave the USA is dangerous assumption to make. Apparently humans can drink frog juice as well, and after a few beers with colleagues last night I could do with a glass or two this morning. I feel OK, but I am not the man I used to be when it comes to drinking. Old age and lack of practice has left me lagging behind younger, well-trained individuals. In days gone by I would be looking to go for a hair of the dog at lunchtime, but not these days nothing could tempt me to do that now. Frog juice is what I need! My selection today is Centered in the 3.50 at Leicester. This horse ran a blinder on debut when not fancied at Kempton. It was a typical first run for a Sir Michael Stoute two-year-old and there was bags of promise in it. With plenty of improvement likely, Centred will be hard to beat this afternoon.
