hunt jockeys, still claiming 5lbs.
News and information
on one of the World's top flat jockeys, Seb Sanders. Seb's first winner
was Band On The Run trained by Brian McMahon at Pontefract on 12/06/90
and he hasn't looked back since. Seb's biggest success to date was
in this year's Irish 2000 Guineas riding Bachelor Duke to victory
and giving him his first Classic win.
Hayley is from Southwell,
Nottinghamshire. However she rides in Newmarket for the successful
trainer 'Michael Bell' who trained Motivator to win the 2005 Vodafone
Derby. Currently she is the 'Lady Jockey of the Year' according to
the Racing Post and she has had rides for Godolphin, the first lady
to do so! Hayley has now lost her 3lbs claim, she reached the target
of 95 winners.
Nina Carberry is currently
21 and she lives at home with her family in County Meath, Ireland.
Nina became the first lady jockey in 18 years to win a race at the
Cheltenham Festival on 'Dabiroun.' Nina comes from one of the best
racing families around - her dad 'Tommy Carberry' was a successful
jockey and is now a trainer. Her brothers Paul and Phillip are also
very good jumps jockey and both ride at present.
Dominic Elsworth began
training to become a jockey at a very young age, starting off
with fox hunting and show jumping. He has been connected with trainer
Sue Smith since his schooldays and has received coaching from Sue’s
husband, former top class show jumper Harvey Smith. Dominic is one
of the more successful National Hunt jockeys to have graduated from
the NRC in recent years.
A promising young amateur
National Hunt jockey. His father and grandfather have both trained
National Hunt horses under Permit. He regularly rides out for Philip
Hobbs at nearby Bilbrook. and had his first National Hunt winner at
Market Rasen in November 2000 on Eileen Alanna. His 2002 Point to
Point season brought his first winner at Silverton on 27th January
on Horrified for Mrs Janet Ackner.
Bob Champion and Aldaniti won the 1981 Grand National even though
Aldaniti had been plagued with injuries throughout his career and
Bob Champion had fought to recover from cancer. The interest and
enthusiasm generated by 'racing's greatest fairytale' led to the
foundation in 1983 of The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
