Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin has said he plans to race American ace Daaher next in the Donn Handicap (Gr.1) - a traditional stepping stone to the US$6 million Dubai World Cup, sponsored by Emirates Airline - at Gulfstream Park on February 2.

"Looking forward to 2008, there are a lot of horses that excite me and certainly Daaher is at the top of the list," McLaughlin said. "We'll point him to the Dubai World Cup card.

"He'll go in the Donn and that will give us a good idea where to point him in Dubai, either the Godolphin Mile, or the big one, the Dubai World Cup.

"I don't think a mile and a quarter (2000m - the DWC distance) will be a problem for him, so we definitely have the Dubai World Cup on the radar.

"To us in the Kiaran McLaughlin stable, one of the biggest days in racing is not Breeders' Cup day, it's Dubai World Cup day," he continued. "We'd love to go back there and hopefully win a race for the Maktoums."

With free nominations for the Dubai World Cup meeting closing on Wednesday, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Stable could also be represented by new South American-bred inmates, Group 1 winners Mach Glory and Morador Llers, in the UAE Derby.

"We'll take one or maybe two," McLaughlin said of his prospects for the UAE Derby, sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group. "We have to hope they take to the dirt."
