TurfTrax Returns to Newmarket

Newmarket Racecourses is delighted to announce that it is to resume its link with TurfTrax this summer.
Having been absent since the last meeting of 2006, the latest tracking technology will once again be used on The July Course, starting with Friday 20 June’s fixture, and later this season on The NatWest Rowley Mile.

TurfTrax’s state-of-the-art system aims to instantly provide a wealth of accurate information on each race. The data, which will be available free of charge for a week after each fixture on www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk, offers added insight to race-goers and punters, while giving invaluable information to owners and trainers about a specific horse’s performance.
Mark Kent, TurfTrax’s Managing Director, said: "It is with great pleasure that TurfTrax renews its association with Newmarket Racecourses, recognised as The Home of Horseracing. Having played a vital role in the early development of the TurfTrax Tracking System, it is fitting that the latest advances in the tracking technology be deployed at both the July and Rowley Mile courses.”
Explaining specific aspects, Kent added: “The TurfTrax Tracking System provides a real-time data feed that can be used to generate new in-running betting opportunities, enhanced TV production and enhanced on-course CCTV graphics. The system also creates a wide range of data sets for research and analysis by punters, owners and trainers alike via the TurfTrax and bespoke websites such as Newmarket’s own where the post-race data will be available."
Michael Prosser, Director of Racing at Newmarket Racecourses, said: “Newmarket Racecourses has worked very closely with TurfTrax in developing the speed-sensing system and we are delighted that we are once more in the position to utilise the equipment. We will be the only turf course in the country in 2008 to be using the speed-sensing equipment.”
