McCoy Makes Racing History at Plumpton!

Thirteen-time Champion Jockey Tony McCoy today wrote himself ANOTHER place in the history books when riding his 3000th winner over jumps at Sussex track Plumpton.
The 34-year-old has surpassed all records during his career, becoming the fastest Jumps jockey to reach a thousand winners, and beating Sir Gordon Richard's record of 269 winners in a season when clocking up 289 wins throughout 2001-2002.
Bookmakers William Hill make McCoy a 1/4 chance to reach 3500 winners
before he retires, and 11/10 to notch up another thousand before finally
hanging up the reins.
Hills also offer odds of 5-2 that McCoy gains his elusive Grand National win before retirement, and 10-1 that he rides the 2009 winner.
Lester Piggott made a famous comeback to race-riding after serving five years in retirement, and returned to win the Breeders' Cup Mile in 1990, and the 2000 Guineas in 1992. . Hills make it a 5/1 chance that AP is another that fails to see-out his retirement and returns to ride competitively before the age of 45.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for Hills, said: ''This latest milestone is just another addition to McCoy's amazing achievements. His success can be compared with Tiger Woods who is another to dominate in the modern era, and it is saddening that his feats are not better recognised outside the sphere of racing.''
Hills make Tony McCoy 50/1 to win BBC's Sports Personality of the Year in 2009, and 4/5 money to make the final ten.
