Punters Back Nobel for Breeders Cup Prize
29/10/09

William Hill have reported strong interest for Alfred Nobel in the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The bookmakers were offering 16-1 on Thursday morning, but strong money for the Aidan O’Brien two year old forced them to halve his odds to 8-1 for the Santa Anita race.

The Phoenix Stakes winner, who is set to be ridden by Johnny Murtagh in that race, could also be joined by his stable mate Beethoven. The Dewhurst winner, a 20-1 shot for the Juvenile contest, will probably be ridden by the British Champion jockey Ryan Moore.

Other Breeders’ Cup market movers on Thursday were Noble Court 16-1 (from 20-1) in the Breeders Cup Turf, Girolamo 40-1 (from 66-1) in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Father Time 3-1 (from 4-1) in the Breeders’ Cup Marathon and Justenuffhumor 16-1 (from 20-1) in the TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile.

William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny commented “Aidan was bullish about Alfred Nobel’s chances at the Breeders’ Cup press conference on Wednesday, and punters were quick to snap up his odds for the Juvenile race” He continued “He was a 16-1 shot on Thursday morning, but the weight of support behind him has forced us to halve his odds for the Breeders’ Cup race”
