Denman Heads Hennessy Market at 4/1 as 37 Confirmed

Denman heads the market at 4/1 with totesport for Saturday’s Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury after 37 were left in the race at the latest confirmation stage.

Paul Nicholls’ superstar is set to carry top-weight of 11st 12lb as he bids to win the race for a second time. There were no major defectors but as expected, Notre Pere, Atouchbetweencara, Albertas Run and Madison du Berlais have all been withdrawn.
‘Kauto Star made a winning reappearance over the weekend and now it’s Denman’s turn as the two horses continue their preparation for their much anticipated clash in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup later in the season,’ said totesport spokesman George Primarolo. ‘Momentum is slowly beginning to build behind Denman’s bid for a second Hennessy and it will take a serious gamble to depose him at the head of the market.’
Denman’s stablemate What A Friend is next in the market at 11/2, with the Queen’s Barbers Shop a 6/1 chance.
Elsewhere, Whiteoak bounced back to form when running out the impressive winner of the Starlight Childrem’s Foundation Mares’ Hurdle at Kempton this afternoon and has been introduced into the betting for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle by totesport at 12/1.
