Racing Post Trophy Ground a Concern for Native Khan
23/10/10

As the season draws to a close of sorts, the Racing Post Trophy is the highlight of Saturday’s racing and it is not clear how much rain might fall before post time at Doncaster. One person who is hoping the rain stays away is Paul Hanagan, due to ride Native Khan for Ed Dunlop. Having sat on his mount this morning, the champion jockey to be said;

Native Khan

"He's a nice horse, I sat on him on Wednesday morning and he gave me a real nice feel. I've watched his first two races and he seemed to do it really well and I'm really looking forward to it. He's got a nice attitude but we are forecast some rain and I'd be a bit worried about that, I hope we don't get too much as his wins have come on a sound surface. It's just on the softer side of good today so hopefully it will dry nicely and we don't get any rain."

Kevin Prendergast is another who is not brimming with confidence about the chances of his runner, Dunboyne Express, saying

"He's been working well at home. He beat Master Of Hounds a head on his first run so it will be interesting to see who has progressed the most. He had a fair setback, he got an infection in his leg which kept him off for three weeks but I think he's straight enough.”

Fellow Irish challenger Casamento, owned by Sheikh Mohammed, has had a smoother preparation and may be a more likely winner.

Of the English challengers, Brian Meehan is keen on the chances of his runner, Titus Mills, telling his website;

"He's in great form and has progressed well since his nice win at Goodwood," Meehan told his website, This has been one of his targets for a long time. We think he is one of the top horses in this Group One race."

At a current price of 10/1, Titus Mills could be the value and his yard have a good record in this race over recent seasons.

Recommendation: Titus Mills e/w
