Pandorama Could Turn the Hennessy Clock Back for Ireland
22/11/10

With the mighty Denman set to top the Hennessy Gold Cup weights yet again in his bid to win an astonishing third renewal of the historic event, many very talented horses find themselves likely to run from out of the handicap for the first time in their life. Classy Irish challenger Pandorama is one such horse who might feel he’s been ‘let loose’ under just 10 stones, writes Elliot Slater.

Those looking at newbury hennessy online betting note that Pandorama has won eight of his nine career starts under rules and has won three Grade 1 events from his last four outings. Trained by Noel Meade, the seven-year-old has long been regarded by the Irish as a potential Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, and if he does take his chance at Newbury and bring the prize back to the ‘Emerald Isle’ for the first time since Bright Highway in 1980, history might well show that Denman had an impossible task trying to give such a classy horse no less than 24lbs.

A leading fancy for last season’s RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival before having to miss the contest due to a muscular problem, Pandorama was last seen in action 11 months ago when getting the better of a memorable dual with the subsequent RSA Chase hero Weapons Amnesty by a short-head at Leopardstown’s Christmas feature meeting. All seemed set for him to make his return to action at Down Royal a fortnight ago in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes.com Chase, but he was withdrawn at the start after jockey Paul Carberry felt that something was amiss, the contest eventually being won by Paul Nicholls’ progressive sort The Nightingale.

Currently on offer at 8/1 with newbury hennessy racing betting odds, Pandorama will not be allowed to take his chance unless 100% fit and healthy, but if he does face the starter at Newbury he must have an outstanding chance of victory off a weight 17lbs lower than he has ever carried before.
