Gary Carroll 4-6 Favourite for Irish Apprentice Title

William Hill have revised their betting on the ‘2010 Irish Apprentice Jockey’s Title’ following the release of the overnight declaration for the finale of the Irish Flat season at Dundalk.

Gary Carroll and Ben Curtis are deadlocked on 39 winners a piece, however William Hill believe the strength of Carroll’s rides entitle him to be favourite for the title – and make him their 4-6 favourite to retain his Irish Apprentice crown. Curtis, who only has four guaranteed rides on the eight race card, is now a 6-4 chance to claim the title.
Meanwhile - Joseph O’Brien, who is two winners behind Carroll and Curtis, was shortened from 16-1 to 8-1 to win the Championship after it was confirmed that he’d picked up a full book of rides at the All Weather venue.
‘The fight for Irish Apprentice title looks like it’s going to go down to the very last race at Dundalk ,’ said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, ‘Simply looking at his rides - Gary Carroll looks the most likely winner, however we’re certainly not ruling out the chances of either Ben or Joseph taking the crown. You never know, we could end up with a triple dead-heat.’
