We Have Jump Racing on Tuesday!
28/12/10

It has been a long time since we enjoyed any jumping action and after a barren Boxing Day, we will hopefully have 3 meetings to get stuck into on Bank Holiday Tuesday. Ffos Las are expecting to host a NH card.

In the novice chase at 2.15, Nicky Henderson could hold the call in the shape of the lightly-raced Osric. The stoutly-bred 7-y-o has run to a mark of 130 over both hurdles and fences and looks open to further improvement over fences. Evan Williams runs 3 and although Blacktoft may struggle to defy a penalty, he looks likely to run his race and rates the danger to the selection.

At 2.40, Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson could get on the scorecard with Emergency Exit. I think the gelding is extremely well handicapped based on his 28-length victory on his debut for the yard in January. Although his jumping let him down in two subsequent runs, I am sure he will have done plenty of schooling and he appeals a fair bit on his return from a short break.

Lingfield’s AW card is subject to an inspection at 6.30 with snow and ice giving way to heavy sleet and rain. Assuming the card goes ahead, then favourite backers will be looking for early gains with Faithful Ruler in the 11.30 and Lady Rosamund in the 12.00 both appearing to have great chances. Better value may be had in the 12.35 though, where Buxton takes a drop in class, trip and the handicap. Not prolific but the horse has won his only previous start in this low grade and his small yard have has a recent winner.

Recommendations:

Lingfield 12.35 - Buxton
Ffos Las 2.15 – Osric, 2.45 – Emergency Exit
