Hot Weld wins in Ferdy Murphy One-Two

Ferdy Murphy's Hot Weld held off stablemate Nine De Sivola to provide the West Witton handler with an impressive one-two in the Coral-sponsored Scottish Grand National.

The 14-1 winner gave Murphy his third Scottish National success in seven years, following victories for Joes Edge in 2005 and Paris Pike in 2000. “It is nice to win the race again,” said Murphy. “I said to the horse’s owner that we had the perfect horse for the race, but that we had been messed about in the winter and as he takes a lot of getting ready, I thought the race was coming two weeks too soon.”
