Angus McNae - Friday 15th March 2013 Well, if Phil ‘the power’ Taylor can get beaten at 1-3 as he did last night then surely anything can happen today at Cheltenham. With that in mind I am going to try to hit the bull’s eye today with some big-priced selections. Right here are my selections for the final day. 1.30 Cheltenham – Rolling Star I was impressed with him last time out at Cheltenham and his defeat of Irish Saint looks even better since that horse obliged at Kempton. There is more to come from this horse and he will give the so-called Irish good thing - Our Conor plenty to think about. 2.05 Cheltenham - Manyriverstocross A 98-rated Flat horse running off a mark of 135 here. Need I say more? A recent spin behind My Tent Or Yours at Newbury will have put him spot on and should be backed each way at 33/1, which is available with many firms. 5.15 Cheltenham - Tetlami Nicky Henderson has six runners in the race and will probably win it yet again and I think the lesser fancied Tetlami is the one to be with. He has a high cruising speed and a change of gear which as long as he is ridden patiently will see him go well here. A mark of 140 underplays his ability and at 18/1 with a number of firms he represents decent each way value. As far as the Gold Cup is concerned I do not really have a strong view. If you asked me to name the winner I would give you Bobs Worth. He has done nothing wrong and his form is rock solid. His Hennessy win was particularly impressive and I believe he can lead home a Nicky Henderson Exacta in the race with Long Run chasing him home. If you want to play, how about considering laying Silviniaco Conti for a place? I say this on back of the way some of the Nicholls' horses have run this week and on the basis that he has never won at Cheltenham before. He is clearly very talented but today may be a step too far and a cheeky place lay at 2.1 is recommended. I hope that this makes some kind of sense. If all of these selections come to fruition we will all be walking in a tweed wonderland! Incidentally don't be fooled by Taylor's defeat last night to Andy Hamilton, he will be back and is still a good bet to win the Premier League darts.
Today's tips: 1.30 Cheltenham: Rolling Star (10/3 bet365) 2.05 Cheltenham: Manyriverstocross (33/1 bet365) 5.15 Cheltenham: Tetlami each way (18/1William Hill ) 3.20 Cheltenham: Silviniaco Conti place lay at 2.1; Exacta Bobs Worth and Long Run.
