Tanya's Blog - Thursday 12th September 2013 Tick the boxes with Katie I’ll be stood on Thursday in the betting ring, which on Wednesday was friendless, toothless, wet and bedraggled. Here’s hoping for change when I go live to air. Seeing as in the 1.40 Doncaster not many have even encountered soft ground I’ve zeroed in on the few that have. Ticking Katie is the one for me and also is supported by the wonderful stat of the winning relationship Karl Burke and Joey Haynes has formed. If ever there are conditions to suit then its soft ground for Maureen in the Sceptre Stakes at 2.10. The hold-up filly has been running well without the form figures displaying such, and all at the highest level. At Deauville last time her run was blocked when trying to make her move - she may not have won, but I feel she would have snatched second behind Elusive Kate. She has a phenomenal talent and turn of foot, which will only be accentuated if the conditions worsen. Having backed and tipped Lupo D’Oro everywhere when he ran at Sandown on August 31 it is time for the retrieval mission. I have no idea why he started so slowly, instead just hope there is no repeat in the 4.25pm. What a thrill it was to be invited to the Leger Legends’ Marquee on Thursday, guest of ARC and I was sat near my good friend Kate Hills. So many familiar faces sat around the tables and the one which brought the biggest smile to me and many others was that of Racing UK’s Tom O’Ryan who was subject to a constant queue of well wishers. It was a good place to go covertly, especially as the rain came heavily, which wasn’t needed for my tip Medicean Man. Already on as I couldn’t wait, I watched my readies get stuck in the ground. Another lesson learned for next time and apologies to you all. The going at the time of typing was good to soft but rain was still falling.
