La Collina Second 7-1 for 1,000 Guineas After Phoenix Shock MansionBet has introduced La Collina into their Qipco 1,000 Guineas betting as 7 -1 seocnd favourite, following the filly's surprise win in this afternoon's Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. An earlier winner at the Irish track, Maybe , is 5-1 (from 7-1) market leader for the Newmarket Classic.
"Wins for Discourse, Maybe and La Collina this weekend have seen those three fillies take a stranglehold on the Qipco 1,000 Guineas market, and it will take a top class performance in the second half of this season for another filly to replace that trio at the head of the betting," said Coral's David Stevens. "Discourse was an impressive winner of the Group Three Sweet Solera, and on what we have seen so far, deserves her prominent position in the betting for next year's 1,000 Guineas, although punters will be hoping she has better luck than last year's Sweet Solera winner, her stablemate White Moonstone, who missed the Fillies' Classic." Elsewhere, Kieren Fallon is 10-3 (from 5-1) with Coral for the Flat Jockeys' title, behind Paul Hanagan and Silvestre De Sousa, 11-8 and 6-4 respectively. "Kieren Fallon has made his intentions clear as far as the title race is concerned, and punters were quick to take the 5-1 on offer, making this season's championship a three horse race once again," said Coral's David Stevens.
