Seriously - it’s time this Scoop6 was won
The long journey from York to Newbury is now complete. Some scarpered on Thursday to no doubt avoid the Friday night traffic which was its normal congested self. Another Saturday, another Scoop6 rollover - can fate deal another blow to syndicates, small perms and one-liners alike? It is high time this behemoth gets won. There are non-runners so be sure you check and double check them.
Racing needs to force its window to the world wide open again and if a pot of £10million can’t do it, I wonder what can?
It’s a swelteringly hot day at Newbury on Saturday and I’m sure that is the same for most of the country. There’s Group One action in the JLT Lockinge Stakes with Olympic Glory bidding to add to his million-pound haul, but don’t forget Verrazano has a burgeoning wallet of prize money and he’ll relish the fast ground. A year ago Declaration Of War was heavily backed into favouritism for this race, and although he was trounced by Farhh he did go on to win at Royal Ascot.
Then there’s the intriguing supplement of Chopin, the German raider who was seventh in last year’s Derby and is now competing in a Group One over a mile.
It wasn’t long ago Tullius was finishing second in the Lincoln - now he is priced at single figures to win the Lockinge! Ocean Tempest can’t stop winning so the form is franked!
One of my bets of the day doesn’t run, Burano, which is a shame because after Baccarat this week I feel like I might just be hitting form. Maybe I can win the Scoop6? Good luck, and if you do I hope to see you at Haydock next week.
