Cole Harden

Having run well at all the major spring festivals last year, At Fishers Cross appeared to be over his ailments and for most of the race Tony McCoy looked happy, but early in the straight he tried to close in on Cole Harden and there was no immediate response.

Gavin Sheehan had yet to ask for everything in front and a good leap at the last sealed victory for one of last season's leading novices, the 9-4 chance finishing eight lengths in front of Medinas, with At Fishers Cross even further behind.

At Fishers Cross
Winning trainer Warren Greatrex said: "I had a feeling he'd improved a lot over the summer and I think he'll improve from this. If it hadn't gone well today we could have gone back to handicaps. That was impressive, though, and we'll look at the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury."

Rebecca Curtis floated the idea that At Fishers Cross may now go novice chasing.

She said: "I think he'll improve from that, but I don't know what to make of it really. AP (McCoy) thought he was going to pick them up turning in, but he found little. AP thinks he might be worth a go over fences and if JP (McManus) agrees, that might be the way we go."
